What You are allowed to do in Norway

By admin On July 9, 2010No Comments

In Norway, there has at all times,
for all people, have been allowed to walk
in the wilderness in the forest in the mountains,
islands, rivers and lakes, regardless of who owns the land.
The right is a living and traffic law,
but also the right to harvest such as berries, mushrooms and flowers.
Main principles of public law are legal in Outdoor Recreation Act of 1957(friluftslivloven).With the exception of fishing for saltwater fish and hunt
for hunting only species on the sea, fishing and hunting is not a public right.

You are allowed to do the following :

Traveling on foot in the forest and in boats along the coast and on lakes throughout the year.
-Walking and cycling on paths and roads.
-Most of the coastal zone is the outfield, and here you can walk freely in the water’s edge,
but show respect to house the people and take rest at a good distance.
-In cultivated land, you can travel from 14.10 to 30.04 if the ground is frozen or covered with snow.
-Cultivated land is mainly arable land, pasture engslått and culture.
-Picking berries, flowers and mushrooms (special rules for cloudberries in parts of Northern Norway).
-Picking nuts that are eaten on the spot.
-Counted two days without the consent of the landowner or user.
-The distance from the nearest house and cabin shall be a minimum of 150 meters, and privacy must be respected.
-On mountains and in areas far from homes, you counted so long as you want in one place,
as long as it does not inflict damage.
-Bathing and swimming in the sea and water.
-Lighting fires in the winter season (from 15.09 to 15.04).
-There is free fishing in the sea.
-Children under 16 don’t pay for fishing in freshwater (excluding rivers with salmon and sea trout).

Outdoor activities in Rondane

This is not allowed:

-Leave litter.
-Break branches or damage shrubs and trees growing.
-Skip over or stay in the cultivated land in the summer.
-Lighting fires in the forests during the summer season (from 15.04 to 15.09).
-Disturb the animals and birds, including nests and chicks.
-Remove eggs from the bird.

-In areas that are protected under the Conservation Act, there may be provisions that limit or prohibit the movement or harvesting in the interest of plant and animal life.

In urban areas, and in a “privacy zone” close to the cottages (about 25 m) and the house is not covered by the public law  (allemannsretten).
The same applies to forest plantations.

Show respect – take responsibility!

From Eidfjord to Hardanger plateau

By admin On May 12, 2010 No Comments

The wildest and most remote regions of Europe

After a few hour drives from Odda, I can see Eidjord in front of me, a village at the deepest darkest, reach of Hardanger fjord.

This is Norway of your picture postcard dreams. There’s the ink black fjord, the
sheer face of mountains, and the scale is other-worldly. This fjord could make the QE2 seen like a tugboat.
The temperature is about 10 degrees warmer down here than up on the mountain.
It’s almost like travelling to another country.

Eidfjord is a small thoroughly idyllic place. There’s the village proper with around 650
souls and then another 400 scattered around the Eidfjord kommune, the Norwegian equivalent of a community council.

While most communities along the Hardanger fiord are lucky to have one small, all-purpose village shop Eidfjord has three large ones, selling everything from cat food to hunting rifles.

None of these shops would survive without tourism. They make more in the summer season than they do in the rest of the year combined,”says Mr. Sandvik twirling on his chair”.

The Hardangervidda Natursenter at uper part of Eidfjord and the Norsk Fjordsenter at Geiranger will soon find their way into all the holiday package tours so visit now
before the coaches arrives.

A 225 deg. panoramic cinema screens a breathtaking film montage of scenes from the area they call ‘the ceiling of Europe’, allowing you to soar like an eagle over the snow-capped mountains.

During the 20-minute movie, set to music by both classical and New Age Norwegian composers, you visit remote places that would otherwise be
inaccessible, completely immersed in the experience.

Hands-on exhibits in the centre develop the film themes, allowing you to feel the  textures of the ice, the wildlife and the age-old rock through which the
fjords were carved.

Last summer we visit western part of Norway, we were travelled to Selje, then a short boat ride to a remote island to visit a ruin of a monastery of St. Sunniva.
St. Sunniva was a princess of the Irish Kingdom in the 10th century, ended up in this little island after running away from a forced marriage by a King.

Find a Nude Beach in Norway

By admin On May 11, 2010 No Comments

Norway has got a number of popular naturist beach locations in addition to several clothing-optional beaches. Here is how to discover them.

On the outskirts of Oslo is Huk Beach having nude and non-nude bech. Rather than driving a car there, you have the opportunity of taking a bus from the middle of Oslo.

At the same time, close to Oslo, if you desire not to check out Huk Beach, you can pay a visit to Langoyene Beach or Svartkulp Beach on Lake Sognsvann.

Consider Mauren Nude Beach by Alesund or Kollevagen next to Bergen if you are in the western part of Norway.

Kollevågen is both an official naturist and textile beach. In the Bergen area, this beach is quite popular for nudism in Norway. Kollevågen offers lots of beautiful sand and greenery.

Visit Ursetvika nude beach near Salten or Djubvika in the region of Trondheim if you are in the central or northern areas of Norway.

Visit Oslo and experience the amazing female ski jumpers

If you get a chance to visit Oslo, I highly recommend taking the Tbane up to Holmenkollen to walk around the new arena, and enjoy the fantastic view of ski jumpers and Oslofjord.
Anette Sagen is one of the best female ski jumpers of all time. She has also made his mark by a front women jumping – in what has always been a very male-dominated environment.

Anette Sagen is a pioneer in the sport in Norway, and is clearly the right to let her jump first, “jumping national team sports director Clas Brede Bråthen.
